How could you doubt it, now you scream and shout it…
Banners may seem like ‘old hat’ but they are still a very useful way to advertise your web properties.
You’re probably thinking at this point you need to employ a designer and while that’s an option, you can create basic banners yourself that you can advertise to get more visitors to your blog or website.
You can create a banner in about 10 minutes using tools like Canva these days.
Here’s a 468 x 60 banner I knocked up earlier for this blog, if you’ll pardon the expression:
If you’re on my list you’ll probably see this banner or one like it making an appearance. I’ll also be putting it elsewhere to get a few extra visitors.
I’ll probably create 3 or 4 different designs and split-test them to see which one performs the best.
Obviously, depending on where you advertise you’ll want to create different size banners as well.
One interesting thing here is not to assume that the basic looking banners are the lowest performing, as often this is not the case. Flashy banners don’t always convert that well, so you need to test out a few different designs to see which ones work best for you.
Quite a lot of websites I am a member of also allow banner advertising so it won’t take more than a few minutes per site to add a banner for this blog.
The important thing here is not to overthink it, just get a few done and let the results in the form of click-throughs determine the winner.
